Update your LinkedIn profile #now.....in 3 easy steps

LinkedIn has become the online business card for many professionals and a source of not only finding jobs, but recruiters and companies headhunting talent. With over 8 million users in Australia and 4.2M active users on a monthly basis, if you’re serious about your career, then this is a platform you need to be playing on!
If you’re looking for a new job then your profile needs to showcase who you are and your skillset. If you’re not looking for a new job, your profile still needs to be schmick as you never know when someone is going to tap you on the shoulder with your dream role. Also consider that if you’re in a sales or marketing position then current and potential clients/customers will be checking you out to ensure you’re credible. And finally, leaders and business owners will have potential new employees viewing your profile to see if you’re the kind of person they want to work for. Branding yourself on LinkedIn has never been more important.
There is so much you can do to elevate your profile but today I’m sharing with you my top 3 tips to help you get noticed:
1. Your photo – firstly, it should be in colour (b/w comes across as cold) and should show your full face. It should also be professional so leave out the family members and pets – save that for Facebook.
2. Your headline – most people have their current job title here, but in reality it should be a quick overview of who you are or what you do. For example, if you’re a Headshot Photographer try – “I’ll make you look great!” or for a Marketing Manager try – “I bring your marketing vision to life”
3. Give & Receive recommendations – this is your unofficial reference check section where it’s important to give yourself credibility. Previous managers, co-workers & clients are who you should be asking for a recommendation and always give one in return as a courtesy.
Taking 10 minutes to update your profile could be the difference between standing out from your competitors or slinking into the background. Now make a date with yourself and do it #now!
Be fabulous xx
